Delete your Resimay account
Last updated: 2026-10-11
You can delete your Resimay account whenever you like, in the Resimay app or on the website. The app and the website share one account, so deleting it in either place deletes it everywhere. If you can no longer sign in, email us and we will delete it for you.
Deleting your account cannot be undone. If you want a copy of your data, download it first: on the website, open Settings, go to the Integrations tab and choose Export my data.
Delete it in the Resimay app
- Open the Resimay app on your phone and sign in.
- Tap Profile, then Delete account.
- Enter your current password and tap Delete my account. If your account has no password (for example, you created it with Google or GitHub on the website), type the phrase the app shows instead: the word delete, then the part of your email address before the @. For [email protected], that is “delete jane”.
The app then signs you out on that phone and deletes the resumes and cover letters it downloaded there. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account.
Delete it on the website
- Sign in at resimay.ai.
- Open Settings. The Account tab opens first.
- Under Delete account, choose Delete my account.
- Type the phrase shown (the word delete, then the part of your email address before the @). If your account has a password, enter it too. Then choose Delete permanently.
Can’t sign in? Ask us by email
Email [email protected] from the email address on your Resimay account and ask us to delete the account. Writing from that address lets us match the request to your account. We will respond within 30 days, and once the account is deleted, everything below applies in the same way.
What is deleted
- Straight away: you are signed out on every device, any active subscription is cancelled, and your sign-in history is deleted (the record of sign-ins, sign-outs and failed sign-in attempts on your account, including failed attempts that used your email address). The email address on your account is also removed from our product-updates list and our community waitlist, and notifications to the Resimay app stop. We also ask our product analytics, support chat and payments providers to delete what they hold about you: your analytics profile and its events, your support chat contact, and your customer record with the payments provider.
- Within 30 days: all other personal data in your account (your profile and saved answers, master resume, uploaded files, job applications, tailored resumes, cover letters, rejection analyses, interview sessions, Resume Coach conversations and the phones registered for notifications) is permanently purged from our database and file storage by an automated cleanup job, which also repeats the requests to those providers.
What we keep
Some records outlast the deletion:
- Our payments provider keeps its record of your past payments.
- We keep de-identified records of what each AI request cost, with the link to your account removed, for cost tracking.
- Other providers keep limited operational records on their own retention schedules, such as delivery logs for emails we sent you, error reports that may include your account ID, and our internal alert messages.
- If you opted in to Global Insights, the anonymized insight rows built from your applications stay, because they contain no personal identifiers.
- Encrypted backups held by our database provider for disaster recovery keep deleted rows for up to 7 days before they rotate out automatically. They cannot be used to restore individual records on request.
The details are in Section 7 of our Privacy Policy, and what the app keeps on your phone is in its Resimay mobile app section.
