Dear Hiring Manager,
Every week in the Math Lab study-hall block, I tutor five to six Algebra I students, breaking each problem down step by step and checking that it clicked before we move on. That work taught me to read a person quickly and stay patient when someone is stuck, which is most of what a creamery counter asks for on a busy night. I am Maya Robinson, a junior at Naperville Central, Class of 2027, and as Secretary of Key Club I am the one who keeps the sign-up sheets straight and texts reminders before every service event. Riverwalk Scoops is a five-minute walk from my house, so a last-minute closing shift is no trouble for me.
Most of my experience comes from work in my own community, and it is the kind that maps well to a counter job. As a concession stand volunteer for the Naperville Central Athletics Boosters, I served more than 100 customers per game across a six-game home football season and made change accurately during the halftime rush, when the line was longest. I also babysit for three local families on a regular weekly schedule and have earned three referrals by showing up on time every time. On top of that, I hold a current Illinois Food Handler Certification, so I can start handling food safely on day one.
My weekends are open and I am free after 3 PM on weekdays, which covers your busiest creamery hours, and my Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification means I can keep my head if something goes wrong behind the counter. Could we set up ten minutes this week to talk through which evening and weekend shifts you are shortest on? You can reach me by phone or text, and I can stop in any afternoon the case is quiet.
